Michael Ramirez

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Michael Ramirez is 32 years old and lives in Austin, Texas with his sidekick SEO dog named Rye after Rye Whiskey. Michael has been involved in SEO for over a decade, he has been contributing to the SEO community for as long as I can remember.

He has spoken South by Southwest both in 2017 and 2018 on SEO topics. He often hosts online webinars, podcasts and video content, while also producing written content on various web sites.

Nicku Sheladia nominated Michael and wrote:

Michael’s technical SEO knowledge and willingness to share his learnings always impresses me. He's spoken at SXSW, hosted optimization webinars and publishes videos on various SEO topics. His drive and work ethic exemplifies excellence and it's what has made his own company, SearchRPM a success! I'm definitely proud to call him a mentor and friend!

Michael Ramirez Bio: Michael Ramirez launched SearchRPM after recognizing the growing need for a different kind of SEO support. SearchRPM is a digital marketing company in Austin TX that’s at the epicenter of the online ecosystem. Having received a Degree in Advertising from The University of Texas at Austin, he quickly realized that many standard SEO practices went against the traditional lessons of marketing – essentially giving the customers what they wanted, when they wanted it and how they wanted it.

So Michael set about creating a new approach that provided tangible SEO results without sacrificing the customer experience. With each campaign, Michael implemented a measured and evolved the approach, applying traditional marketing principles and strategies to the world of SEO. After getting consistently exceptional results for local, national and international clients in a variety of industries, it became clear. Online advertising in the hands of a creative marketing mind was far superior to the standard SEO strategies that solely targeted search results.

Favorite thing about the SEM community? One of my favorite things is that SEO draws in people from different types of educational backgrounds and experiences. SEO extends well beyond Google, is shapes the way we build products, design websites and think about how to build marketing campaigns that resonate with people and the platforms they interact with on a daily basis.

One piece of advice to the SEMs out there? Don't give up on your SEO. SEO is a process and the web is a big place. It's highly likely that Google isn't out to get you, assuming you are not doing anything bad, and now a days results come in different forms. Rankings isn't the only success metric of SEO anymore, just take a look at your Search Console data and think about all of the content opportunities that you can build from the keywords that Google is showing your site for. Taking it a step further, think about the different content types you can build to be found for those keywords i.e. videos, images, audio/podcast and the list goes on and on. Stay with it and get creative.

Favorite things in general? Training for half-marathons, full marathons, kickboxing and starting to teach SEO locally in Austin.

What you want to be known for in the SEM space? Simplifying SEO. After speaking with many people interested in SEO - both novices and marketing experts - people are still perplexed on how it works and question its importance in the online marketing landscape. I ask, how can such a difficult subject be so essential to marketers (whether they know this or not)? Without getting to deep in thought here, I'd like to help marketers understand it's importance and help simplify its tactics. The bottom line, online businesses with a good SEO on their side are more than likely leaders in their space.
