Tumbleweed Google

The EU is a fun place, they have lots of rules and regulations and want Google to do lots of things that may not benefit the end user. I am not a lawyer, I don't live in the EU but when I saw what Greg Sterling posted on Search Engine Land - I had to share it here.

Google shared screen shots of what the proposed search engine results page may look like if the EU passes two provisions Articles 11 & 13. Let me share those screen shots below, but the title and GIF above sum it is - it is a ghost town:

Google told Search Engine Land that these screen shots will help you "to understand what the impact of the proposed EU Copyright Directive would be to our users and publisher partners."

I suspect maybe that Google is exaggerating a bit but I do not know. Greg goes into way more detail on this at SEL.

I cannot imagine Google launching this in the EU regions, it makes no sense.
