Back in May 2016, a year ago, we reported some people seeing a filter in the Search Analytics tool in Google Search Console for featured snippets filtering. This would theoretically let you see your Search Analytics metrics filtered by only results for your site in the featured snippets box.

Here is a screen shot from then:

Well, recently, I believe those who were in that beta are no longer seeing this option.

Over the past couple weeks, I have seen some tweets from people asking where the featured snippets filter went. Truth is, it was never a feature Google released to the public, so it must have been a feature only available to Google Search Console beta testers? I never said it myself.

Here is one user asking John what happened to the filter for featured snippets in Search Analytics:

John Mueller from Google responded:

Meaning, it was never available to the public.

Marshall Simmonds also tweeted it a week or so ago, he deleted his original tweet but here is part of my response:

So I guess Google decided to not launch the featured snippet filter for Google Search Analytics. This is sad news.
