Casie Gillette

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Casie Gillette, is 35 years old and lives in Boston, Massachusetts. Heck, I got to say, even thinking of writing up this post in Casie's honor makes me smile because well, she makes everyone smile. She is super smart, super engaging, super fun and super sharing - she is super!

Everyone who has ever met her, talked to her either in person or online, or have read any of her outstanding articles, can feel the warmth and kindness that emanates from her.

Casie has amazing knowhow, she is extremely talented at her job, and she is able to share that talent with her colleagues through so many different forms of media. That includes her awesome presentations at conferences, her published articles across the industry, her posts on Twitter and Facebook and her conversations both in group and one-on-one settings. She is not only excellent at sharing her knowledge but eager and happy to do so at every chance she gets.

She isn't just a friend to so many individual people - I would coin her the friend to the SEM industry.

Akvile DeFazio nominated her and said:

Since first meeting her and becoming friends, it's been an amazing journey to see her career propel forward at work and on the stage. Her conference sessions will leave you with a wealth of actionable tactics. Plus, she's such a great story teller. As a long time friend, she's been a soundboard for not only my business but my life as whole. She is intelligent, hilarious, and her level of integrity is unwavering. If you haven't seen her speak or haven't yet said hello at a conference, you must!

Casie Gillette Bio: Casie Gillette is the Senior Director of Digital Marketing at KoMarketing, a B2B marketing agency in Boston, MA. She has been in the digital space since 2005, working on both the agency side and in-house, developing and implementing marketing strategies for both small businesses and Fortune 500 companies. Casie regularly writes and speaks about content marketing, search, social, and branding, and loves all things internet-related.

Favorite thing about the SEO community? There are so many things that I love but the biggest thing has to be the camaraderie. When you ask industry folks what they love they'll usually note that others are willing to share their knowledge...and that's true. But what I love is as a result of that, I have made real friends. We spend time at each other's homes, video chat to catch up, and I know more about them then people I've known my whole life. I don't of know of another industry where that's the case and it's something I am truly thankful for every day.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? Being an SEO means understanding not just search engines but also people...and people are complicated. It's really key to evolving in this space and being successful as a marketer overall. Don't stop learning, reading, and trying to new things. Oh, and don't be afraid to ask other SEOs for tips and advice.

Favorite things in general? When it comes to my favorite foods, I essentially have the same palette as a 10 year-old -- pizza, hot dogs and mac n cheese. The versions I eat now are a bit fancier I suppose, but I still love the basics. I also try to spend as much time as possible outdoors -- BBQs, hiking, skiing, golfing, and even just walking around the city on a day off. I'm pretty simple.

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? Writing and speaking in a way that is relatable and easy to understand, but also makes you realize, oh, I can take this idea and make it my own. There are so many ways we can do things and there's often not just one answer or one way. If I can help a person think about something in a new way, that's pretty cool.
