Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Search Buzz Video Recap: Google Search Updates, Google+ Shutting, Bing Not Listening & Moz Buys STAT
This week, I rushed a bit because I had a power outage this morning that set me back. Google may have done yet another Google algorithm update October 8th or so.
  • Google Updates Us On Search Updates Communication
I guess Google is sick of me asking them about their search algorithm updates because they posted a long Twitter rant/stream on how they communicate updates. Danny Sullivan on the @searchliaison account posted when and why they communicate about updates, how many updates they do, what it means to you and what you can or cannot do about them.
  • Google Ignores Browser Location Requests (Allow & Block)
You know those browser requests you get where it says this website wants to know your location and makes you click block or allow? Well, GoogleBot, Google's crawler ignores them.
  • Google Tests Clipboard In Search Autocomplete For Recipes
As I reported at Search Engine Land yesterday, Google is testing a clipboard or notepad icon in the search autocomplete drop down suggestions. I am not sure what it does exactly, Google wouldn't tell us, but it is different from the trending icons shown in this dropdown from before.
  • Google Top Contributors Are Now Google Product Experts
Google announced they have rebranded the Google Top Contributors program into what they are calling the Google Product Experts program. Google is updating the various badges and marketing around this program, but the people and what they do as volunteers for Google is not changing.
  • Roberto Clemente Google Doodle Honors Puerto Rican Major League Baseball Player
On Google's home page in the United States is a special Google Doodle for Roberto Clemente. Roberto Clemente was a Major League baseball player who played with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He died at the young age of 38 when he took a humanitarian trip on March 20, 1973 to Nicaragua when his plane crashed bringing supplies to the site.
  • Mural Painting At GooglePlex
Here is designer Monica Garwood, a designer in the San Francisco area, painting a mural at the Google office in Mountain View, California. You can see the other photos of her painting on Instagram.
