Google: Context Is Key For Some Keyword Searches

Google's John Mueller said on Twitter the other day that "Some of these things really need context to make sense." "I've seen some pretty neat associations work out in search," he added.

This was in response to how does Google know the difference between someone searching for it vs IT (i.e. information technology) or other abbreviations.

Obviously, this is just one example and sometimes things are not as clear to Google as it vs IT. But Google is pretty good at figuring these things out and when not, they have different user interfaces to help searchers refine their searches.
