Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Search Engine Roundtable Stories:

  • Vlog #14: Marie Haynes On Google Algorithm Updates, EAT & Penalties
In episode #14 of the vlog series at the Search Engine Roundtable I interviewed Marie Haynes (@Marie_Haynes). Before Marie got into helping site feel better in Google search, she worked with animals as a veterinarian helping animals feel better...
  • Google My Business: Business Profiles You Manage In Search Results
Cordell Crowley posted in the Local Search Forums a screen shot of Google showing him the business locations you have access to in Google My Business but directly in the search results. This is similar to Google Search Console showing your stats in the search results for relevant queries to that site profile but for Google My Business.
  • Switched To Mobile-First Indexing? Google Still Crawls Some Pages As Desktop
Even if your site was switched to mobile-first indexing, it doesn't mean that Google will only crawl and render your pages using the GoogleBot mobile useragent. Google says they still send out the desktop GoogleBot to those pages to check on things.
  • Basecamp Google Ad: We Don't Want To Run This Ad But Forced To.
Founder & CEO at Basecamp, Jason Fried, posted a screen shot on Twitter of a Google Ad the company bought that reads "Basecamp.com - We don't want to run this ad."
  • New Google Ranking Factors 2019 Survey Results Now Available
About a month ago we asked you to fill out the SparkToro Google search ranking survey lead by Rand Fishkin. Well, now the results are out and Rand Fishkin published what 1,584 SEOs think about Google's rankings.
  • Google Crawling Spikes: Large Increases In GoogleBot Crawl Activity
Google may be crawling sites more and harder over the past several days. The WebmasterWorld forums has several SEOs saying they are seeing significant spikes in crawl rates by GoogleBot. Also, I checked dozens of sites in the old Google Search Console, to see the crawl stats and most, not all, but most, have a significant spike in crawling.
  • Android 10 Statue At The GooglePlex
Every time Google releases a new major version of Android the company places a new Android statue at the Google offices. We've covered many of them here in the Search in Pics. Here is the Android 10
